Not too long ago I was thinking to myself, "Hey, self. What happens when something you write gets picked up and you are given lots of money and stuff?" The thought was really about how most major writers of shows and film have a personal production company. So, I decided to come up with some names and possible logos for each company.
Gunslinger Productions:

This company name and logo are inspirations from my favorite literary series of all time, Stephen King's "The Dark Tower". As a production company, I think it also lends itself to the type of work that I would be involved with: Exciting, off the cuff action and adventure themed films.
Acquired Taste Productions:

Acquired Taste was a name I came up with a while back and for some reason has stuck with me for a while. I don't know why, I just like the concept of an acquired taste: Something that tastes good to absolutely no one at first, but upon closer inspection and usage, it becomes something that you like that most others don't. That may sound strange for a production company, but it makes it sound exclusive. That's a good thing, right?
Rendezvous Productions:

Rendezvous productions came from a conversation I had with one of my old roommates about the coolest world in the English language. My answer: Balderdash. His: Rendezvous. I relented. Rendezvous was both cooler in sound and spelling. I think that as a name for a company it also offers the feeling of escape: a rendezvous both in the romantic and exploratory sense.
Mugshot Productions:

When I came to college, I noticed the strange culture of expressive posters in dormrooms. Let me explain. For those of you not in college or who have somehow escaped this, expressive posters are a way of showing everyone who comes in your room what you like so that you don't have to go through the awkward phase of getting to know someone. At mizzou, they have a poster sale every year and this one caught my eye: Sinatra's mugshot poster. I loved it, but I have yet to buy it. Anyway, as a production company, I like the name mugshot: it says, "Hey, I've got a past, some of it good, some of it bad. But you know what, I look damn good in my mugshot." Haha, really, I don't know why it would be good as a company name, I just think it sounds cool.
Wasted Talent Productions:

Wasted Talent was also an idea I had some time ago and still comes back to me. It's a little self-deprecating, but who isn't every once in a while? I like it as both a logo and company name because it sort of harkens to the self image in all of us. And it's oxymoronic: if I've got a personal production company, than I'm probably not wasted talent.
Elemental Productions:

Not too long ago I thought about how I would love to work creatively in both the mediums of video games and comic books as well as film and TV. Elemental is my idea for a company that openly works in these four mediums: Film, TV, Video Games, and Comic Books. My idea was to have an umbrella company that controls four smaller companies that work exclusively in each of the mediums. Fire would be comics, water: film, wind: games, and earth: television.
This is what the subsidiary company logos would look like:

Well, there you go. Feel free to let me know what you think and vote on which you think is the best.
Signed,
Derek
